South Jersey Fugitive Arrested By US Marshals In Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor

U.S. Marshals have arrested a 21-year-old fugitive from Camden in connection with a fatal shooting, authorities said.

Isaac Santiago was charged with first-degree murder in the Dec. 27, 2023, death of Esterlin Torres, 35, of Pennsauken, according to Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

He also was charged with weapons offenses.

Santiago was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 3 in Camden by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division, they said.

On Dec. 27, 2023, at about 6 p.m., Camden County police responded to the 1400 block of Louis Street in Camden for a ShotSpotter activation. Police found Torres who was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at about 8:40 p.m.
